A statement by McAfee states that approximately 500,000 pirates have been caught downloading bogus files.
The file is spreading under different names, in different languages, as different media but has mostly been spotted as pornography, music, and full movies. On completion, the file installs a variety of adware and forces pop-ups on the user. As if that wasn’t enough, the adware also has an MP3 player bundled in so the user thinks the download is legit.
You’ll find the file in torrent form, and also on LimeWire and eDonkey. The following titles are confirmed to be the bogus file:
